Make room for the children, Florence is all for them

Painting, sculpture, storytelling, innovation. These and many others were Leonardo da Vinci’s talents, numerous and diverse. Like the initiatives inspired by him and merged into Children’s Florence, the festival that until Sunday will transform the city into an amusement park with workshops, shows, games and family-friendly routes. Precisely with a choral tribute to the Tuscan genius, whose five hundred years from death are celebrated, the school children will inaugurate the sixth edition this morning: each of them will fly. from the San Miniato square, a paper airplane to which he will have entrusted a poetry, without fear of giving wings to one’s thoughts as Leonardo’s courageous example taught.

And if today is mainly for school children, adults and children aged 0 to 12 will find hundreds of non-stop activities scattered around Florence over the weekend. Above all, of course, Palazzo Vecchio. Next to the Mona Lisa-themed drawing shop and the “Leonardian lion” of the Viareggio’s cart masters in the courtyard, the Salone dei Cinquecento becomes in fact the stage for three evening shows (including the debut today at 6.00 pm with Leonardo and his sound machines and the final singing essay which on Sunday will join adults and children in a single voice) but above all the main location of the long-awaited Saturday night at the museum, where everybody will sleep in a sleeping bag, all together under the wonderful Salone’s ceiling.
